Chris gives talk for hospices

An elite runner and reconteur from South Yorkshire has put his years of sporting experience under the spotlight, taking to the stage for a special evening in aid of the 2016 Master Cutler's Challenge.

Chris Heaton is managing director of the OSL group - the manufacturing company with offices in both Sheffield and Rotherham – which is one of the organisations taking part in the challenge this year.

Chris gave a fundraising talk at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield, where he covered his 21 years of running exploits and shared secrets as he raised money for this year’s Master Cutler’s Challenge charities, St Luke;s Hospice in Sheffield and Rotherham Hospice. His talk was illustrated with photos and videos from his many challenges.

St Luke’s corporate fundraising co-ordinator Jack Kidder said: “The event was a great opportunity for our audience to find out what drives Chris to such extremes. It was also a great insight into the sheer intensity of the training and preparation involved.

“It was a truly inspirational night.”

Chris added: “It was a fabulous and fun evening! I’d like to thank everyone who supported the event and contributed towards the money we’ve raised so far for the 2016 Master Cutler’s Challenge.”

A spokesman for the Master Cutler’s Challenge said: “The two charities we’ve chosen to support this year help over 2,500 patients each year to reach the end of their lives with dignity, support and as much comfort as possible. Many local people will have been touched by their work somehow.”
