ROCK while you shop!
Meadowhall was treated to a musical makeover when more than 160 singers from two different choirs performed at the shopping centre.
A local branch of the nationally-acclaimed Rock Choir, plus South Yorkshire’s own people’s choir BeVox both took to the malls to raise money for the South Yorkshire Heart Appeal.
The Appeal is run by the Sheffield Hospitals Charity to raise funds for the cardiothoracic centre at the Northern General Hospital. The £1,200 raised through donations to bucket collections from impressed shoppers will help to improve the care and treatment of over 13,000 patients who use the centre annually.
BeVox, run by Barnsley-based musical director Tim Allen, has thriving choirs in Sheffield, Barnsley, Wakefield and Nottingham for singers of all ages and abilities.
He said: “We were really keen to support the appeal as so many people’s lives are impacted by heart problems and this includes a number of our choir members.”
Kate Threlfall, the local Rock Choir leader, said: “It was a great day. I hope the shoppers enjoyed the performance as much as we did.”
