A Sheffield cancer charity was presented with £1,500 by Rotherham Council’s building control officers.

The Parent’s Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia provides support and the chance of holidays for families whose children are suffering from the illness.

Lee Rourke, a council building control officer, nominated PACT to receive the cash at this year’s South Yorkshire and Humber Building Excellence Awards.

His 13-year-old daughter Jemima was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2007 and has since made a full recovery.

He said: “PACT gave our family invaluable support. They were wonderful at a stressful time in our lives.”
