Children get arty to promote Great city

A children's competition to design a new postcard, to depict the great outdoors of Sheffield, has been launched by Sheffield City Council.

Young artists, graphic designers and photographers are being asked to create a postcard which shows what the city, known as The Outdoor City, means to them.

The final design will be displayed across the city as part of the new Outdoor City Adventure Book Festival, which runs at Sheffield’s Central Library from June 3-5, to highlight a new website which has been built to promote Sheffield’s natural environment and is full of ideas of where to go and what to do in the city.

The postcard can include anything from climbing, biking, running, hiking, picnicking or parkour to favourite places such as Bluebell Woods or one of the many BMX or mountain bike tracks in Sheffield.

The competition is open to anyone aged three to 16 and entries must be handed in at the library on Surrey Street, or emailed to [email protected] before June 6. Entries must include the entrant’s full name, along with a contact number for a guardian.
