Child seriously injured after motorbike collision in Chesterfield

A young boy is in hospital with serious injuries after he was involved in a collision with a motorbike in Chesterfield.

Emergency services were called to the A619 Lowgates, Staveley, following reports that a Kawasaki motorbike had collided with a boy shortly before 4pm on Saturday, April 23.

A police spokesman said the youngster was seriously injured and was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, where he remains.

The biker went to Northern General Hospital in the same city where his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police closed the road as part of the investigation into the collision, re-opening it at 7.45pm that day.
