Child rescued as fire rips through Sheffield house

Firefighters rescued a child from a burning house in Sheffield after being called to the scene this morning (February 26).

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “Crews were called to the street at 11.41am.

“Upon arrival they rescued a child from a first floor window before putting out a fire in the kitchen.

"The fire investigation is ongoing. The kitchen has been destroyed and the house has been totally smoke logged.”

The child was handed over to the ambulance service. No serious injuries were reported.
