Chesterfield Royal Hospital '˜looking forward' to welcoming Calow Post Office

The service will relocate from its curent home on Top Road to shop@theRoyal – the hospital’s retail store.

A Royal spokesman said: “We are looking forward to providing a comprehensive Post Office service to anyone who wants to use it and to working with customers to make it a success for them.

“A few months ago the Post Office undertook a public consultation on proposals to move its Calow service to the shop inside the hospital’s main entrance. This concluded in October and comments about the environment and services that would be available were positive.

“Although the current Post Office has not been well used in the last few years and offers minimal facilities, we appreciate that the consultation indicated concerns about coming on site.

“If the hospital isn’t within walking distance – it’s about 900 metres away from the current Post Office location – and residents understandably don’t want to drive up to the Royal during the busy day we’ll be offering much longer opening times, so they may choose to come when it’s quieter. There are also several bus services that stop in Calow and come on to our site, which might be a good option for some people.

“We’ll have the full range of Post Office services on offer seven days a week, 7am-8pm weekdays and 9am-6pm at weekends and available to staff, patients and visitors, as well as people living in the area.

“Parking is free for the first 30 minutes and there are short stay drop off points near to the main entrance.”

As previously reported, a number of residents have voiced concerns about parking at the Royal to use the new Post Office.

The date for the relocation has yet to be confirmed.
