A Chesterfield FC fan has been charged with posting alleged racist and offensive comments on a fans’ forum.

Mark Randall, 45, from The Vale, Pleasley, Mansfield, has been charged on suspicion of causing racially or religiously aggravated harassment, alarm or distress by words or writing.

The comments were posted to a League One fans’ page on Facebook, and referred to the Bradford City fire disaster of 1985, in which 56 supporters lost their lives and hundreds more were injured.

They were made following Chesterfield FC’s home defeat to Bradford on Saturday, December 13.
