Tests have found that the Sparkle Girlz Winter Princess Doll sold in Wilko stores contain unexpectedly high levels of phthalates. As a result they could pose a health risk to children if placed in the mouth.
In recent years some research has linked phthalates to everything from asthma to breast cancer and autism.
The recall applies to all four varieties of the doll, item code 0417591 and anyone who has bought one of the dolls is asked to return it to any Wilko store.
In a statement, the retailer said: “Nothing matters more to us than our customers' safety - so if you've purchased this product from us, please return it to any of our stores for a full refund of the purchase price.
