South Yorkshire Police are using a new social media tool to leave safety tips for revellers at pubs, takeaways and taxi ranks around Sheffield during the festive season.
FourSquare users can ‘check in’ at 40 places in the city and see police safety and crime prevention tips.
Officers have ‘checked in’ at places partygoers are likely to visit, such as pubs, fast food premises and taxi ranks.
Superintendent Peter Norman, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “Social media is a key way for us to communicate and is now embedded into our way of working.
“FourSquare allows us to engage with the community, especially over the festive season when we see an increase in alcohol-related antisocial behaviour and violent crime.”
