Cheat ordered to repay cash

A MAN from Clowne who dishonestly claimed more than £7,100 in benefits has been ordered to complete a community order for 12 months with a requirement to undertake 70 hours of unpaid work.

Andrew Millard, 44, of Chapel Close, Clowne, pleaded guilty at North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates’ Court to failing to declare he was in employment while claiming housing benefit and council tax benefit.

Millard received benefits over a 15-month period to which he was not entitled.

He must now repay all the over-claimed benefits, complete a five day training requirement and pay costs of £100 at £5 per week.
