CHEAPER bus fares have been extended to more routes around Sheffield.

Bus group First lowered the price of tickets on many routes for the school summer holidays in a bid to attract more passengers - and is now expanding the promotion.

On routes involved, the maximum single fare is £2, day tickets are £3.40 instead of £4.60, a weekly ticket is £11, instead of £18.50, and student single tickets are 60p.

Cheap tickets are now available on the service numbers 11/12, 14, 22, 42, 44, 51, 52, 56, 81, 82, 85, 95 and 120.

First said the promotion will last throughout September and October and will offer thousands of Sheffield bus passengers the chance to save money to spend in other areas to boost the local economy.

Simon Pearson, First revenue and customer services development director, said: “Our aim is to grow the number of people using buses in Sheffield and the surrounding areas.

“If this promotion is successful we will look to continue to review our fares across Sheffield in the upcoming months.”
