Chatsworth gets all '˜Clean for The Queen'

The Duke and Duchess of Devonshire have led more than 100 volunteers around Chatsworth for their annual litter pick, as part of the nationwide Clean for The Queen campaign.

The volunteers braved wintry weather to cover a combined total of 35 miles, collecting 234 bags of litter - which included unusual discarded items such as a balti pan and an electric sandwich maker.

Holly Bishop, Trainee Land Agent at Chatsworth, said: ‘I am delighted that so many employees and tenants of Chatsworth participated in the Clean for The Queen initiative on the Chatsworth Estate, ahead of Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th Birthday.

“We hold a litter pick annually but this year coincided it with Clean for The Queen which gave it a great sense of community spirit knowing that thousands of other volunteers across the country were cleaning up their areas too

“Despite the bitter weather, spirits were high and the surrounding area has benefitted hugely from the great efforts carried out by all participants.”

150,000 volunteers throughout the UK are thought to have participated in Clean for The Queen events so far this month.
