Charlotte Hatherley, Plug, tonight

Ex-Ash guitarist Charlotte Hatherley is quietening things down on her latest tour.

The musician - who had joined the Northern Irish trio at the age of 17 to beef up their live sound and made her first performances for them in front of a 50,000 crowd - stepped out on her own in 2006 after almost a decade with the pop-punks.

She has since made her second acclaimed solo album, Deep Blue, which came out on her own Little Sister Records. The debut, Grey Will Fade, was released while she was still in Ash. You can hear tracks from both albums - and a few excellently-chosen cover versions on an acoustic tour which calls in at Plug in Sheffield tonight. Along with musician friends Jen Fuse and Charley Stone she will be aiming to create a relaxed atmosphere.
