Charity’s Good Samaritans

A Sheffield charity, which was facing an £18,000 bill to upgrade their Bents Green premises, has thanked Good Samaritans who helped them get the work done for free.

And local MP Nick Clegg, who is a patron of the charity, was so impressed by the gesture, he called into the newly-refurbed building to offer his thanks to Tracy Haigh and Lee Adams.

Local decorator Tracey heard about the charity’s plight and offered her decoration services for free once the building work was complete.

The big-hearted woman then went one step further, asking her partner Lee, a builder by trade, if he could offer any further assistance. The pair decided to do all they could to support the local charity.

Lee agreed that he and his team would do the building work for free, and Tracy immediately started to contact suppliers on their behalf, to ask if they would donate the required materials.

Mr Clegg visited the charity the day that work began on the site and took the time to thank every member of the crew personally for giving up their time.

He said: “In offering to help Work Ltd in this way, Tracy, Lee and the entire team have demonstrated the true spirit of Christmas and I thank them for their kindness.”

Centre manager Glynis added: “It is our very own DIY SOS and we are just so overwhelmed by this help and support, we really can’t thank these people enough.”

Work Ltd was established in the city 20 years ago, to create opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to develop life skills which help them to build confidence, self-esteem and encourage each individual to strive to reach their potential.
