Charity in tune with patients in Sheffield hospitals

Patients in Sheffield hospitals are benefitting from concerts and practical music sessions aimed at improving their experience of life on city wards.

Over 100 live music sessions a year are now held at city hospitals thanks to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust charity the League of Friends.

Natalie Rutter, a speech and language therapist, said: “The music groups have been very successful and therapeutic for the patients.

“Patients have expressed how much they have enjoyed the sessions and how it has made them feel more like themselves again. They have also been very useful for staff to see how patients function in a different environment doing different activities.”

The League of Friends charity raises funds for additional services, facilities and equipment for patients, visitors and staff at city hospitals.
