Charity shops’ festive appeal

SHEFFIELDERS are being urged to support local charity shops to keep up stocks of last-minute gifts.

The city’s St Luke’s Hospice shops need stock and staff are asking people to donate good-quality, unwanted clothes, books and homewares.

The appeal is being backed by the Sheffield Haymarket branch of Yorkshire Bank.

Staff bought their Christmas party outfits from St Luke’s and wore them for work to raise money for the good cause.

In the New Year, bank workers will visit the charity shops to give staff tips on how to boost donations. Each branch of Yorkshire Bank is twinned with a hospice, giving employees the chance to volunteer.

St Luke’s must raise £4 million every year to care for people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses.
