a MENTAL disability charity under threat of closure in Sheffield is holding an unusual fundraiser today in a bid to keep afloat.

SAGE Greenfingers, which runs therapy sessions in an allotment in Grimesthorpe, is facing massive cutbacks in its council funding.

Poet River Walton will lead a sponsored writing marathon at The Welcome Centre, Pitsmoor, from 10.30am to 2pm today. More than £1,000 has already been raised.

Director Diana Tottle said: “There is a huge amount of goodwill out there.”
