Charity’s appeal after pet akita is abandoned

A DOG left on wasteland is believed to have been dumped.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after the akita cross-breed was found tethered to a tree.

When officers arrived to collect her, they found she was in good condition, but frightened, cold and aggressive. However, when she was taken into care they said her behaviour changed for the better.

Andy Sowden, of the RSPCA, said: “The chances are she could have been left overnight. Everything points to the fact she has been dumped. We appeal to anyone who has information about who owned her or where she could have come from to get in touch.”

The dog, who has been called Grace, is aged about two to three and has light tan patches on her body. She also has two ‘wall eyes’ - eyes with pale blue and white irises flecked with brown.

Notices have been left where she was found on Wednesday, February 8, on wasteland near Langer Lane, Chesterfield, in case she was lost.

She is now being cared for at the RSPCA’s Chesterfield Animal Centre.
