CELEBRATIONS are taking place to mark a quarter-century of work by a South Yorkshire family support charity.
Home-Start Rotherham was launched in 1987 and the organisation will mark its silver jubilee at the annual general meeting on September 19.
John Healey MP, who has supported the charity for a number of years and is also a patron, will speak to congratulate the charity on reaching the milestone.
He said: “Home-Start is a very special organisation – special not for what they do, but how it’s done.
“They offer unique help and support and their volunteers can reach families with young children in ways the best paid professionals can’t.
“Staff and volunteers are highly committed and, with 15 new volunteers taken on this year, Home-Start shows even when times are hard people want to do their bit.”
The charity supports parents of pre-school children.
