Charity makes urgent appeal

Have your say

An appeal has been launched to find businesses prepared to throw a lifeline to a unique scheme under threat.

The Sheffield-based charity Support Dogs was due to receive its first ever puppies specially bred for disability assistance.

Both had been specially selected and offered to the charity by Guide Dogs, but the arrangement has run into trouble.

Support Dogs’ fundraiser Jane Foster said: “We have already had to say no to one of the puppies because we can’t find a volunteer socialiser for him. Now we are desperately in need of someone to sponsor training for the one we can get!

“All in all it costs about £12,000. It’s a lot of money but we could miss out on an animal that would change forever the life of someone struggling to cope with a disability.”

Anyone who can help is urged to call 0114 2617800.
