Charity helps disabled Derbyshire boy

A boy, aged four, has received specialist equipment to help him sit comfortably thanks to a charity.

Zachary Thropp , from Grassmoor, Chesterfield, has congenital hydrocephalus along with 10 other conditions, and has no independent mobility.

His head and body slump to one side, which makes it difficult to position and keep him comfortable.

For the last three years Zachary has been using specialist supportive seating supplied by the Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children, but outgrew it.

With no funding available through local statutory services for a larger replacement, his family turned to Newlife for help again.

Fundraisers at Central England Co-operative in Hasland have been raising money for Newlife for the past thee years, donating more than £950,000 and helping to fund equipment for 432 children in the retailer’s trading area, including Zachary.

Newlife is the UK’s leading children’s disability charity, specialising in providing specialist equipment for children with disabilities and terminal illness.
