Charity for the elderly set to expand

A Sheffield charity which has been supporting people over 50 for more than three decades is set to expand with several new frontline jobs.

The new roles at Age UK Sheffield come as the charity reports a ‘significant increase in demand’ across all of its services this year.

Chief executive Rosalind Eve said: “As part of a new and courageous approach, the Age UK Sheffield Board has agreed to invest reserves into expanding our staff team to cater for a significant increase in demand.

“A combination of growing numbers of older people in Sheffield and recent cuts to many services means more staff are needed to ensure we can deliver an expanding, high quality service that reaches more people than ever, giving them back choice and control.”

The new jobs follow a shake-up of the charity’s referral system earlier this year, designed to make it easier for people to use the charity’s services and for health professionals to refer patients.

Age UK Sheffield is currently recruiting and is expected to appoint seven new staff members by August.
