Charity battles for survival in funding blow

A family support charity is ‘fighting for survival’ after losing out on a council funding contract.

Home-Start Rotherham has helped keep families together for 25 years, stabilising home lives and minimising the need for social care, but has had to ‘pause’ its services.

Chiefs are urging people and businesses to support the charity so it can continue while applying for other funding.

Joan Blanch-Nicholson, chairman of trustees, said: “While losing out on a local authority tender is devastating news, we are determined to fight for survival.

“Families tell us they do not know where they would be without Home-Start.”
