Changing view of landscape

WORKS of art going back 250 years are being used to show how Rotherham's landscape has changed.

The Room with a View exhibition at Rotherham Art Gallery uses both old pictures and contemporary work by artist Peter Bartle to show how the industrial, rural and town centre landscape has changed.

Recordings of people’s reminiscences of the town are also being played as part of the exhibition, until November 3.

Youngsters were asked to create a window to look through and show how past and present views of Rotherham change.

Led by artist Zahir Rafiq, the youngsters learned how to use digital art software , and the end result is a huge projection of animated words and pictures. The Room with a View project and exhibition is funded by Yorkshire Museums Hub as part of the Renaissance in the Regions museum programme.
