Change to Legal Aid criteria
Legal Aid will now be available for more domestic abuse victims after the government changed the eligibility criteria.
The time limit on certain evidence requirements increased this week from two years to five years. This means that anyone who previously has had difficulty obtaining legal aid, because the evidence in their case was more than two years old, could now be eligible. The government has advised anyone whose circumstances have changed as a result of this criteria to take fresh legal advice.
