Chance to nominate your Shiregreen community champions

Residents are being urged to nominate unsung heroes in their neighbourhood as part of a community awards scheme.

People living in Shiregreen are encouraged to put forward those who go the extra mile for others for an accolade as part of Sanctuary Housing’s Shiregreen Community Awards 2016.

Nominations are open until January 15 and there are six categories:- The Karl Barton Award for Young People aged 10-16, Young Achiever of the Year for 17-25-year-olds, Good Neighbour, Outstanding Achievement, the David Blunkett Community Safety Award and the Kath Page Green Fingers Award.

Colleen Eccles, Sanctuary’s director of neighbourhoods, said: “Sanctuary’s fifth annual awards in Shiregreen will be a fantastic opportunity for us to say thank you to our partners and residents, who continue to develop new and creative ideas for Shiregreen.

“I would also like to thank our kind sponsors for their contributions.”

The awards will be given out at a ceremony at Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough Stadium on February 26.
