Community groups across South Yorkshire are being urged to apply for cash grants available as part of a £50,000 fund.
The Sport Relief Community Cash fund is to support community groups across South Yorkshire as part of the Sport Relief flagship games coming to Sheffield in March.
Grants ranging in value from £500 to £1,000 are available to grassroot organisations in South Yorkshire that are doing great work to help local people living tough lives.
Applications are open until next week, and the South Yorkshire Community Foundation is working with Comic Relief to get cash to the groups that need it most.
Several applications have been received but chiefs are calling for more groups to seize the opportunity while they can.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for local community groups in South Yorkshire to get some grant funding,” said Ruth Willis, chief executive of the foundation.
“The Sport Relief Community Cash fund is a £50,000 grant pot and grants awarded will range from £500 to £1,000. we are working with Sport Relief to make sure the funding goes to the groups that need it most.
“The deadline for applications is Sunday February 7 so we are calling on groups to act fast and get their applications in for their chance to be awarded a part of the £50,000 grant pot.
“To apply or to find out more all you need to do is visit our website.”
The flagship games will allow people to take part in a swimming, running or cycling challenge to raise money for Comic Relief.
