Championship transfer rumours: Villa near superstar signing, West Brom chasing defender and Nottingham Forest sign Greek midfielder

Aston Villa look close to re-signing defender John Terry after he left the club at the end of the season.

Terry's wages appeared to be the issue when he announced he was leaving Villa but since then the club has been taken over by new cash-rich owners.

Steve Bruce is said to be keen to bring Terry back to Villa Park as he looks to bolster his defence.

Nottingham Forest have signed Greece international midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis on a free transfer. 

Tachtsidis had his contract with Olympaikos terminated last week and joins Forest on a two year deal.

West Brom are close to signing Wes Hoolahan on a free transfer after he left Norwich City earlier in the summer.

The veteran defender is reportedly on trial with the Baggies. 

QPR are said to be considering a deal for Seb Bassong, who has been on trial at the Loftus Road club recently after leaving Norwich City.

Ipswich are said to be looking at former West Ham defender James Collins, but could face competition from Aston Villa.
