Also it seems incongruous for a supposedly socialist city council, in partnership with a nominally communist source, to be encouraging elitism.

If there really are enough punters to afford such fare then the way to tackle that problem would be through increased taxation, not by encouraging them to flaunt their greed.

This is even apart from the dodgy reputation of China for human rights abuse, poor safety standards of work and environmental harm in their own country.

The odd restaurant here and there is OK but this huge amount of cash coming in for such a dubious purpose would be a disgrace, I feel.
