Celebrities set to tackle for charity football match at Doncaster's Keepmoat Stadium

Famous faces are set to go head to head in a charity football match to raise funds for British teams to go to the Deaf World Cup.

More than 20 celebrities, who are more well known for their appearances on the small screen or singing abilities, will play in the match on Sunday, May 29 at Doncaster Rover’s Keepmoat Stadium.

The celebrities are hoping to raise the £25,000 needed to send Great Britain’s men’s, women’s and under 21s teams to the tournament in Italy, which takes place from June 29 to July 2.

Dan Osborne, aged 24, of The Only Way is Essex fame, is excited about the match.

“I wanted to get behind this so I can play for 90 minutes myself in an amazing stadium and raise money at the same time, which makes it more enjoyable,” he said.

“It’s always exciting to play in amazing stadiums like Doncaster Rovers’ but once match day comes I do get a little nervous.”

He said he has played in charity football matches before and has scored two or three goals and is hoping to keep up his good goal record.

“I’m not a bad player. I’ve been in the gym lots to prepare, but no matter what, you need a better fitness when playing football. Expect lots of goals and some good and bad play from the celebs.”

Another celebrity who will swapping his usual attire for a football kit is X Factor 2015 finalist, 19-year-old Che Chesterman.

He said: “I like to think I’ve got some skills so keep your eyes peeled. I enjoy playing five-a-side with friends, so to get in a lovely stadium and play on this pitch is great.

“Please get down and support this match, it’s going to be an amazing day.

“We have only two weeks to raise money so all your support will be appreciated.”

Other celebrities lined up to show off their fancy footwork are soap star Jake Wood, TV chef Dean Edwards and Real Housewives of Cheshire star Dawn Ward.

The match has been organised by Sellebrity Soccer, a charity football organisation.

Tickets are available to buy from the Doncaster Rovers Ticket office or online at Keepmoat Stadium

The price is £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £35 for VIP meet-and-greet tickets. Kick-off will be at 2.30pm.
