The events are organised by the River Stewardship Company, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary and has just launched Riverlution, its new brand for delivering social impact and connecting communities to their local watercourse.

This will then be followed by a clean up day at the Porter Brook on Saturday March 9 as RSC staff and volunteers tackle the build-up rubbish before the brook enters the megatron beneath the station.

The second big event of the month is the Great Sheffield River Clean Up which will be held on Saturday March 23 on Kelham Island from 10am-3pm. RSC is working with Don Catchment Rivers Trust, Sheffield Adventure Film Festival and Kelham Island and Neepsend Community Alliance to clean up the river upstream of Ball St. Bridge.

Activities include removing large debris from the channel with boats and ropes, litter picking, cutting back vegetation, sowing seeds and planting plug plants, creating a bug hotel, creating raised beds in a community area, and removing logs from the weir.

CRT is also hosting a canal clean-up the following weekend to round off the month. More details at www.the-rsc.co.uk
