Celebrating job losses

Hard to believe, but some Star letter writers are actually gloating over others' misfortune.

So mean-spirited have we become, that when several hundred people lose their jobs, hardworking local people whose salaries are paid by the Government but spent with local shops and businesses, instead of calling this as a great shame, it is seen as their just deserts.

Why did they become the target of this public hate-mail?

Because the writers find it unbearable that they do not personally know what work they do nor see how it benefits them individually.
