CCTV released after series of arson attacks in South Yorkshire

Police are trying to track down two men in relation to a series of arson attacks in South Yorkshire.

Officers want to speak to the men pictured in the CCTV image to the right after several fires in the last eight months that appear to be linked to the Richford Motors vehicle compound in the Wath area of Rotherham.

Two arson incidents have been reported at the compound in Farfield Park, as well as three reports of vehicle arson at staff members’ homes – two in the Hathersley North area of Barnsley and one in the Parson Cross area of Sheffield.

There has also been a report of an attempted arson at the compound during the same time period.

The most recent attack was reported to police on Thursday, May 5. The arsonists are thought to have set items on fire before throwing them into the yard of the compound. This caused significant damage to a number of vehicles.

Then on Thursday, May 26, people approached the compound in a silver Volkswagen Golf at about 2.30am. They were disturbed and drove away from the scene.

Despite extensive enquiries, no arrests have been made. Officers believe the two men pictured could hold vital information, but they’re also keen to hear from anyone in the local community who may have witnessed suspicious activity. Call 101 quoting incident 48 of May 26.
