Cashpoint punch leads to serious facial injury

Police are appealing for witnesses to an alleged assault on a 22-year-old man queuing at a cash machine near The Danum Hotel in Doncaster town centre.

The victim was standing behind two men, one of whom it is believed accused him of trying to view his PIN number.

The man is then alleged to have punched the 22-year-old in the face and knocked him to the ground.

The victim sustained a broken cheekbone and eye socket, which needed surgery.

The man alleged to have committed the assault was white, 5ft 9ins tall, of average build with short, dark hair and a tanned complexion.

Anyone with any information should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident 643 of May 10.
