Cash jackpot for community

Have your say

THURCROFT in Rotherham is one of six communities around the region which have received £1 million to spend on making their areas better places to live.

The money, which will be available over the next decade, has come from the Big Lottery Fund’s Big Local scheme.

Residents will have the chance to spend the cash on anything from creating new community facilities to starting up training and employment schemes, tackling anti-social behaviour, or providing more activities for young people.

Vanessa White, Yorkshire regional head of the Big Lottery Fund, said: “This funding scheme is going to put residents in these areas at the heart of decision making and give them a real say in how to improve their local area.”
