Volunteers from Thornberry Animal Sanctuary held a street collection on The Moor in Sheffield city centre.
The sanctuary on Todwick Road, Dinnington, is struggling to cover its costs and relies on donations from the public.
It has been caring for neglected animals since 1988.
The collection took place on Saturday, July 14.
A spokeswoman said: “They only had two buckets as not many collectors were available but thanks to the support of members of the public, they managed to raise a fantastic amount of £265.47.”
The next collection is August 25.
