Youth services in North Derbyshire are to benefit from a cash boost.

The county council plans to inject £250,000 of funding into improving information it offers to young people.

Money will also be spent on careers advice, and support for the vulnerable.

A new careers service for schools to help young people make the most of their opportunities, find work or training, and stay safe, form part of proposals which will be put to the cabinet at a meeting today.

Councillors are also keen to order a review which will consult with children and adolescents, staff and trade unions to find the best way of working.

Coun Kevin Gillott, Derbyshire County Council’s cabinet member for young people, said: “We’re here to improve life for local young people and give them bright futures.”
