Cash boost for city's Rain Rescue charity

Rain Rescue has rescued and saved the lives of thousands of cats and dogs by finding homes and providing care for abandoned pets since it launched in 2002.

Fundraiaing manager Amy Wilson, at Support Adoption For Pets, said: “It is a real privilege to help an organisation that works so hard to care for and rehome animals in need. They are doing a superb job, and the effort the rescue puts in is an inspiration.”

A spokesman for Rain Rescue said: “Our work is at the coal face of rescue. We pride ourselves on being there for those who have no one else and are facing an uncertain future – the ones in true crisis. Most of the animals who enter our care do so either from local authority stray kennels where they are due to be put to sleep, from the streets where they have been abandoned or from homes where they can no longer stay as the owners find themselves in circumstances where they are no longer able to care for their pet any longer.”
