Carving out a brighter future

Local businesses wanting to carve out a bright future for themselves are being invited to sign up for the South Yorkshire Wood Fair.

The Fair, which will be held in Endcliffe Park, Sheffield, on Saturday, October 6, aims to raise the profile of local timber industries and woodworkers, putting the emphasis on sustainability

Last year's event was attended by 5,000 visitors.

"It was a fantastic day out," said Alistair Farr, Timber Industries Officer for the South Yorkshire Forest Partnership.

"Feedback from the public was great; the only negative comment was that there wasn't enough stuff to buy.

"On reflection, we felt Wood Fair could provide a really exciting opportunity for local businesses to offer visitors a wide range of local produce – from fruit and veg to arts and crafts - that would complement both the 'wood' theme, and the South Yorkshire Forest's commitment to sustainability and community."

A special 'Market Place' zone has been included in the plan for the Wood Fair.
