Cars stranded on Snake Pass near Sheffield due to snow

Motorists travelling over the Snake Pass from Sheffield to Manchester are becoming ‘stranded’ due to snow, according to a local business there.

The Snake Pass Inn tweeted at about 9.30pm: “Ah, people are being stranded guys... Please be careful if you’re attempting getting over the tops tonight.”

The pub also tweeted a photo of the snow.

Peak 4x4 Response also tweeted: “Only travel over the tops tonight IF you are prepared, cars now becoming stranded on A57 Snake pass .. only takes 1 to get stuck...”

Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team tweeted a warning about Woodhead Pass.

It said: “Go steady out there people, lots of reports of #snow on high ground, difficult driving conditions on Woodhead pass tonight.”
