On the same night power tools were also stolen from a van parked in Harwood Drive, Waterthorpe.

Ford transit vans were also broken into for tools in Farm View Drive, Hackenthorpe and Birklands Avenue, Handsworth.

Attempts were made to break into vans in Clayton Hollow and Clayton Crescent, Waterthorpe and Fenton Drive, Frecheville.

A sat van and cash were stolen from a car parked in Twitchill Drive, Woodhouse, last week and a wallet and sunglasses were stolen from a vehicle parked in Wickfield Road, Frecheville.

Headlights have been prised from a Volkswagon parked in Pickard Crescent, Richmond and windcsreen wipers have been reported stolen from a Hyundai parked in Streetfield Crescent, Mosborough.

Officers are also investigating the theft of a sat nav from a vehicle parked in Inkersall Drive, Westfield.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Please ensure the doors to your home and vehicles are kept locked and that valuables are out of reach.

"Where you cannot park your vehicle on a driveway please consider parking in a well lit area overlooked by others.

"Ensure glove boxes are left open where possible to show there is nothing of value left inside."

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
