Caring Doncaster school raises cash for cancer

Caring pupils used flower power to help raise cash for Marie Curie's work with cancer victims and their families.

Sandringham Primary School at Doncaster supported this year’s Great Daffodil Appeal and collected £168 from donations for Marie Curie daffodil pin badges.

Volunteer Pat Gilmore confirmed the school’s was the highest total in daffodil box donations in Doncaster this year.

Katie Grinter, Community Fundraiser for Marie Curie, said: ‘We visited the school this week to thank the children and teachers for all their support with the Great Daffodil Appeal this year. Sandringham Primary School has raised enough money to fund a full night of Marie Curie nursing to care for someone with a terminal illness in the comfort of their own home.’

Chris Metcalfe, head teacher atSandringham Primary School said: “We are really pleased to have been able to support Marie Curie. The Great Daffodil Appeal was an excellent opportunity for the whole school community to work together for a worthy cause.’
