An arson attack destroyed several caravans parked in a compound at Armthorpe, Doncaster, last night.

Two Doncaster fire appliances were called to the yard on Cow House Lane at 11.20pm and spent more than an hour tackling the blaze.

It destroyed at least five unoccupied caravans and a spokesman said it had been started deliberately.

Fortunately the caravans did not contain any propane gas cylinders.
