Perrys Motor Group will eventually build a new car showroom at the site opposite the Alma Leisure Park off Derby Road.

Smaller business units, a pub and car parking facilities will also be created.

Excavators have been in action at the location over the last few months.

A spokesman for Henry Boots Development, which is responsible for the land, said: "We've been carrying out infrastructure and levelling works at the site and these are mostly complete.

"When we’re finished, we'll hand over the land to Perrys Motor Group which will build the car dealership."

In addition, Henry Boot Developments is in the process of installing lighting and CCTV around the skate park area close to the proposed car dealership.

The projects are part of the wider redevelopment of Spire Walk.

Fronting the A61, Spire Walk is situated on the former Bryan Donkin Valves manufacturing site and includes a range of facilities, including retail, office buildings and Chesterfield fire station.

The proposed car dealership is the final piece of the jigsaw and concludes the ambitious scheme.
