A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy left fighting for life after being hit by a car in Sheffield is still in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
The boy suffered serious injuries when he ran into the path of a blue Honda Civic travelling along Harborough Avenue, close to its junction with Fretson Road, Manor, last Monday afternoon.
The youngster was rushed to Sheffield Children’s Hospital following the collision with the car, which was heading towards Manor Park Centre.
The driver swerved to try to avoid the child.
Worried residents are now calling for safety improvements on the road, the scene of a number of accidents.
Coun Leigh Bramall, Sheffield Council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said a meeting will be arranged with the Tenants’ and Residents’ Association and Community Assembly to discuss road safety.
