THE Residentiary Canon of Sheffield Cathedral will shortly be taking up a new role.
Canon Joanne Grenfell has been appointed as the new Archdeacon of Portsdown by the Bishop of Portsmouth.
Dr Grenfell will take up her new position after Easter, taking over from the Venerable Trevor Reader, who is retiring from the role in January.
She will become one of three archdeacons serving Portsmouth’s Anglican diocese, and the third appointed by the Right Reverend Christopher Foster since he became bishop two years ago.
The post involves supporting Church of England clergy in 44 parishes in Portsmouth and Havant.
Joanne said: “I am looking forward to getting to know clergy and lay people in the Portsdown archdeaconry and in the wider diocese.”
