A STRING of raids across Doncaster has led to seizures of around £190,500 worth of cannabis plants, say police.

Officers from the Urban Safer Neighbourhood Teams have dismantled a number of cannabis set-ups at properties in Balby, Hexthorpe and Wheatley over the last month, seizing over 700 cannabis plants.

Officers have carried out raids using warrants at houses on Albany Road, Cedar Road and Mansfield Road, Balby and at Jubilee Road and Durham Road, Wheatley.

They also raided a house on Lindum Street, Hexthorpe.

Cannabis plants were seized at all the addresses, said officers.

Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with raids on two of the properties.

Police say they are still making inquires in connection with other raids.

Officers from the teams also carried out a raid at a flat in Hatfield House, St James Street, after residents living there complained about drug activity.

Officers attended the flat where they discovered a quantity of drugs believed to be heroin or crack cocaine and a small quantity of cannabis and tablets.

Drugs paraphernalia was also found.

Four people were arrested for possession with intent to supply. They have been bailed pending further inquires.

Inspector Jakki Hardy for the Urban Safer Neighbourhood Teams said: “There was a substantial amount of drugs found at these properties that could have ended up on the streets of Doncaster.

“We really appreciate any information that is passed to us by the public about suspected drug activity. We will always act on information given to us and ensure that action is taken against the offenders.”

Anybody who suspects drug activity in their area should call their Safer Neighbourhood Team on 0114 220 2020.
