A dad-of-two who has just finished cancer treatment is planning a charity run to thank the Sheffield hospital which treated him.

Keen runner Darren Clewes, aged 40, from Wincobank, was diagnosed with cancer of the neck last June and received treatment at Weston Park Hospital.

He has entered the hospital’s annual 10k ‘Run in the Park’ event in Graves Park next month.

The event, sponsored by Autoworld and Irwin Mitchell, has raised over £250,000 over the last seven years.

Darren said: “My treatment at Weston Park Hospital was tough, but the kindness and professionalism of all the staff there totally got me through and I’m pleased to say that I’m on the recovery trail.”
