Staff at Mecca Bingo in East Laith Gate, Doncaster, have raised more than £700 after they were asked to put their money-making skills to the test to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care, their chosen charity for 2011.

The club’s fundraising activity included a name-the-bear competition, a danceathon, a car wash, a nail bar for customers and a sponsored leg, back and chest waxing.

Their total for this year currently stands at nearly £3,500.

Manager Paul Goy said: “Our efforts will help nurses to provide free home nursing and support for terminally ill people and their families.”
